About Mâmawihitowin
Lac Ste. Anne Métis Community Association’s second annual Mâmawitowin Summer Gathering returns to Heritage Park in Stony Plain, AB on Saturday, July 26 from 11:00 am – 8:00 pm. Mâmawitowin, a Cree term meaning a gathering of peoples, celebrates the rich history, heritage, and contributions of the Lac Ste. Anne Métis community.
What to expect
Emceed by the talented comedian Lars Callieou, this year’s lineup of performers includes Stirling John, Jess Lee, Calvin Vollrath, Brianna Lizotte, and more! On-site attractions include Métis jigging, horse and wagon rides, horseback rides, an Indigenous vendor’s market, and the chance to watch talented artists demonstrate the art of their crafts. A dedicated kids’ zone is available during the afternoon, including face painting and other fun activities. Admission is free, and the first fifty guests will receive a $25 food voucher to use at the event!
New to Mâmawitowin this year is the serving of free Bannock from 12:00-2:00 pm at the Pavilion. Heritage Park features both indoor and outdoor facilities, enabling performances to be relocated indoors in the event of adverse weather conditions. Whether you come for the music or dancing, interactive and fun attractions, vendors, or to make new connections, we promise that you will leave richer for the experience!
Please keep in mind only service dogs are allowed onsite and must be leashed at all times.
